This course is intended to assist children in understanding what is involved in the care of a pet cat and to encourage responsibility. Children will learn what is necessary in providing the care before they acquire their pet. This is a perfect course to take before you bring a cat into your child's life and your household. This course will prepare your child for the cat’s arrival and ensure that your child will take responsibility in caring for and looking after the cat.
Pets are often brought into a home to assist children in developing responsibility and compassion. However, it is often the parent that cares for the pet which results in the pet developing the strongest connection to the parent. Children can become responsible and caring pet owners when they have an understanding of their responsibilities as a caretaker and of the pet’s behaviours.
Children will take responsibility in caring for, loving, and understanding their cat.
They will learn how to interact with cats and respect cat body language, in order to understand their cat. After this course, children will know the appropriate times to stay away from their cat and when to play with their cat. They will also learn safety around cats to prevent any injuries, bites, or scratches.
Children taking this course will also learn what is involved in caring for a cat. They will learn about feeding, cleaning, playing, and the many responsibilities in owning a cat.
Children will take ownership and understand that a cat is a living being that relies on their care to stay happy and healthy.
Children will also learn how to correctly play with a cat and how to recognize a healthy cat from an unhealthy cat. I also speak about cats growing up from a kitten into adulthood, the elderly stages, and how care and interaction differs within the life stages.
Throughout this course, children will watch videos and follow a workbook that corresponds with the videos. There will be thought provoking questions and comprehension questions throughout the course as well.
I suggest you work through the course with your child, as it can be a great bonding experience, and will build up excitement for the new cat or kitten you bring into your house. Depending on their age, motivation and reading/writing skill level, some children will be able to work through it independently
Although this course will teach your child how to care for a cat, please understand that you will need to reinforce, support and monitor your child when caring for the cat. A cat is a large responsibility that the entire household needs to participate in.
Course Length: There are over 3 (three) hours of instructional video time plus multiple comprehension questions and thought provoking questions. Length of time to answer each question, will vary for every child. It is recommended to take your time and stretch the content out over a period of time instead of rushing through.
If you have any questions, please contact me by email.
I hope that you and your child enjoy the course!
